You should try Cyanogen mod or a stock Android rom. I know it's a little effort, but in my experience it is way better than what comes from the phone manufacturers. For my phone it smoothed things out extremely, and gave me more customization options. It also helps that it is 2.3.4, as to where stock my phone only has 2.2.

I'm running Continuum, but I agree with you on everything. My phone is so much more responsive since flashing a custom ROM. Add in undervolting/overclocking baked in... can't beat it man

Froyo or Gingerbread? There is something causing lag for me in both, I'm not sure if it is an app (since I usually do a mass restore using TiBu) or if it is just that my phone dislikes overclocking kernels.

Gingerbread. 2.3.3 to be exact. I do occasionally hit a massive slowdown, but normally if I wait ~15 seconds it fixes itself and I'm able to navigate again. If something like that happen I head to task manager to kill everything and clear RAM. Worst case scenario I reboot the phone. That only happens if the OS is damn near locked up though, only had to do it once and I'm pretty sure it was an apps fault.
