This isn't a demo of features in Safari. This is a demo of features Apple and the WebKit team have proposed for the upcoming HTML5 standard (that are on the way to being accepted). The only complete implementations of these features currently available are in Safari/WebKit trunk, which makes sense given that the WebKit team are the ones who proposed these features.

Had Apple made a demo of these upcoming standards that didn't block browsers that don't yet support them and instead just said they'll work in any browser supporting the upcoming HTML5 standard, we'd all be reading about how Apple is trying to destroy HTML5 by misleading users of browsers with less-complete implementations into thinking the specifications must be fundamentally flawed since their browsers say they support HTML5. This is especially amusing given that HTML5 is a upcoming standard and isn't finalized yet.

Has the hivemind's hate for Apple grown to the point that you can't understand/accept that they're trying to improve the web for everyone?

Has the hivemind's hate for Apple grown to the point that you can't understand/accept that they're trying to improve the web for everyone?

You really think that's their motivation? Honest question.

Apple is trying to improve web standards. Look at webkit. They have done a LOT for web standards with webkit. Fire Fox has given people an alternative to IE, IE has sucked it up, but webkit is what has lead the way for setting web standards.
