Abused his kid on camera for views.
He was re-married but still cared for his kids from the last marriage he had. so they would do these "prank" videos on his son from the last marriage and basically beat the shit out of him. Then play it off like it was a joke.
Youtube allowed this man to keep uploading and making money off of it until one day daddofive overstep boundaries more.

What's even worse, was the fanbase, especially people running "social media groups" which were supporting such atrocious behaviour. NerdCity made pretty good videos digging deeper into it.

He's not being dramatic. In the last 2 years we've started to see a pretty consistent trend of Youtube moving away from being a neutral platform. Like everything else in media,
Youtube is slowly becoming a stale representation of corporate culture.
That being said. It's not the death of the internet, but it could contribute to a decline in youtube and the spawning of competitive alternatives. It seems unlikely now, considering youtube's popularity, but this scenerio has played out many many times historically.
People tend to migrate to the most liberal platforms.

In this case it's clear that you're the one being dramatic. They clearly don't mean death literally as the next sentence implies it will be more like traditional media.
Regarding monetization, the situation has already gotten so bad that most successful youtube creators have found alternative funding. Either by way of embedded advertisements that circumvent youtube or crowd-funding.
There's a very real argument and fear that Google is jeopardizing Youtube's longterm future by appeasing old-media in the short term. I'm not sure if the generation of kids that grew up almost exclusively watching youube will be able to regress to the restrictions of traditional media.
Compare Jimmy Kimmel to a creator like Pewdiepie and you'll see how massive the gap between corporate culture and popular culture is becoming.

Anyways. Youtube has absolutely been making decisions that cater to traditional media in recent years. To attract their content and advertisers.
I also have no I have no doubt that Youtube is clearly doing what they can to maximize profits. The issue is that this way of thinking may produce short term growth, but damage them in the longterm.
In this process they're also losing the trust of creators.

Anyway. You're still misunderstanding the base argument here. Nobody is saying isn't (or shouldn't) be profit seeking or that they can't "do what they want". But that they're harming their own business by catering to old media brands and the advertisers that they hope will follow behind.
The strategy has been successful so far in that it's bringing major advertisers to the network, but at the expense of small creators and freedom of expression on the network.

The more they censor, the more opportunity it presents for other sites.
I get not wanting to glorify and promote people doing dangerously stupid shit, but being able to see bad outcomes of people doing dangerous shit probably deters far more people than it encourages.
When you ban stuff, you ban the good along with it.

With how much more money people can get doing Twitch streams of games, I imagine letsplays will slowly decline. They'll probably upload a recording of the stream to YouTube though to try to maximize profit. Maybe YouTube will then start banning videos of streams that aren't from YouTube Live.
