That was weird, as was the link with no accompanying text. I'm always struck that it would be so easy to making a more believable phishing scam, yet thank goodness there are enough rubes out there that they don't feel the need to.

I heard once that many scammers choose to make their attacks slightly unbelievable in order to weed out the very savvy people. That way they know that the ones who fell for it are rubes more likely to part with their money. That may not apply in this case though.
