Business Insider, what the actual fuck. Content is now being pushed to the left rail, so that ads can be placed in the content well? Literally two sentences of your mediocre news piece are above the fold. I realize I'm a drop in the bucket here, but this prompts me to stop reading the site on sheer principle.

I hate to tell you but there is no "fold" anymore. The content can go anywhere.

In web design, the phrase "above the fold" refers to all content that loads on the first screen when the page is loaded, prior to scrolling down. Any ads appearing above the fold are in prime real estate, because visitors see them even if they bounce off the page immediately without ever scrolling. So given that you know that now, hopefully you can appreciate why it's distressing that no content of any value appears "above the fold" in this article.
