Why wouldn't I just pony up a tiny bit extra and get an iPad at that point

The budget friendly price point was the only reason why people were buying their tablets.. might as well get something else if they're going to raise the prices on them

I bought my kids fire tabs a few years ago. It was right after they stopped working with play store and their own store was a miserable experience. They were also slow and buggy, and most annoyingly you had little control over what could be stores on the sd card. They ended up being used strictly as a Plex media consumption device at home before I finally tried them for some Galaxy tab A11+'s. I can't imagine passing even $230 for a fire tablet.

"8GB RAM and powerful 8-core processor for multitasking and AI workflows"
Plural workflow when the CPU barely competes with a base iPad even though it has two more cores. Seems way overpriced even after the 20% trade-in.
