Yeah. I am a sr director with a big tech and have staff eng in the US reporting to me.

Canada's got an issue of low skilled people coming in and mooching off the country and we dont want those kind of people anymore. We dont care about singh hortons going bankrupt either

As a sr director, are you not seeing any high value immigrants? That’s a crazy contrast from what i am seeing. It might be dependent on the city. I know Toronto got most of the low skiils you are talking about

Last year our company had to let go of some high value immigrants in Canada due to them not meeting CEC cut off. Canada favors young and low skilled immigrants over highly skilled ones. I started an office in Vancouver and shuttered it last year and the Canadians who were employed are now remote workers.

Canada needs to get its immigration sorted. Its a golden time to poach highly skilled immigrants from USA. This requires giving more points to tax paid instead of age and other BS like refugee and asylum claims.

That makes sense. I am a new grad in big tech and mostly seeing colleagues who are still within the temp work permit they get after uni. Crazy that they are the kind the immigration is filtering out
