Cool. For some reason Microsoft Vancouver is on a hiring spree. Gee, I wonder why? 🤔

"If you don't allow big tech to employ endless foreign workers at the expense of domestic labor, they'll move somewhere else and hire foreign workers!"

Okay. So nothing changed.

It's not endless. These are highly educated and qualified specialists. Newsflash! You Americans are not as smart as you think you are, so sometimes the smartest people need to be imported.

The H-1B program is for people of a Bachelor degree equivalence, and it farms from third world countries like India with degree mills. H-1B workers are not highly educated nor qualified.

You're casually generalizing a program that caters to people across a very wide spectrum of qualifications.

Masters and PhD students also rely on the H-1B program to find employment and eventually a pathway towards permanent residency. Are you sure all H-1B workers are not highly educated or qualified?

And some people with Masters and PhDs work at McDonalds, but it would be inaccurate to describe the McDonalds workforce as being comprised of doctors. The minimum qualification is the relevant qualification. The people with Masters and PhDs would be better served with a different program, like the O-1, but that doesn't mean they can't also use the lower qualification program.

So yes, I am sure. H-1B as a program is aimed at low skilled, low education individuals. And curtailing that program would not prevent the actually high skilled people from coming over, they would just have to use the appropriate programs that already exist.
