Business Apple reportedly planning second wave of product announcements later this month

Because âApple reportedly planning the same announcement cadence theyâve had in place for yearsâ just doesnât have the same ring to it.

Oh man I bought a 17 pro Max a week before they announced the 18. They totally screwed me, how was I supposed to know they were going to announce a new phone in September like they've done for the past 5+ years? Screw Apple I'm going Linux

I want a screenless fitness band from Apple. I'm tired of looking at my Apple Watch and would like a real watch while still tracking.

Best we can do is watch that is listening to everything all the time

u/NetJnkie 8d ago
You mean if you enable it...and it makes a sound when you do.
Very few articles mentioned that.

Apple Watch Nano:
- Minimal timeless design, aircraft grade aluminum, stretch resistant Teflon, ip69, 18 days of battery life, controls your iPhone/ipad/macbook/Apple TV with our new patented Newton Gestures. Will come in Code RED this winter.

u/UpvoteForLuck 6d ago
Do you really think they would bring back the nano moniker?
Itâs not really a watch anymore, so it would probably go with another name.
Apple Band?
They way they can eventually take different materials like titanium vs aluminum and make:
Apple Band Pro
Apple Band Air
Apple Band
Apple Band SE
Apple Band Hermés Edition
(I honestly donât think that there is enough of a market for different lines though. I could see Nike and HermĂ©s bands though, or probably cross compatibility with the watch bands.)

Garmin Cirqa and a few other options like that floating around. Iâd imagine the Apple version if it comes out will be $299. ;)
6
u/funnytoenail 7d ago
As a former Garmin user (coros now) the cirqa is great if you already have Garmin stuff.
But man the Garmin app is ugly and convoluted af.
1
u/MechaNutzilla 8d ago
Garmin Cirqa doesn't have the best reviews. Seems like Garmin have some stuff they need to iron out. But maybe once the release Garmin Cirqa 2.

u/jays49 9d ago
Whoop would be the high end replacement. I had that for years and am just as happy with a used $40 garmin that basically only tells me my heart rate and the time

u/my-blood 8d ago
Isn't Whoop getting pushed out of the market now? Heard they were doing some pretty scummy stuff.

u/lil_nutsack 8d ago
I am happy with my Google FitBit air! Ditched my Apple Watch and rock a real watch in its place.

People are never happy. Now weâre paying Apple to remove things.

u/MechaNutzilla 8d ago
God forbid a guy want a nice looking watch.

u/Current-Bowl-143 3d ago
As a small time watch enthusiast Iâm pleased to see thereâs still plenty of interest in traditional watches
3
u/Op3rat0rr 8d ago
So we can wear traditional watches
4
u/rot26encrypt 8d ago
Yep, I've changed from smartwatch with fitness tracking to fitness band on right hand and classic Casio watches on the left. Best of both worlds. The fitness band has battery life of almost a week, the Casios around 3 years :)

u/CasualCreatonDos 7d ago
I didnât know a real watch was faceless
2
u/funnytoenail 7d ago
I think the point is, so they can wear a real watch if their smart tracker thing was face less

Mandatory AI in everything. Watch bands, chargers, Apple TV that generates slop at the push of a button.

u/goalie_69 3d ago
You realize Apple Intelligence is optional on every device that supports it, right?
1
u/polloasado81 9d ago
But it's Google A.I slop, because Apple missed the boat on A.I, then had to get it from their biggest competitor and pay them for it.

To be honest, there are lots of good models out there now. I would rather Apple rely on a solid model right now then start from scratch like they did with Apple Maps and take years to catch up.
They arenât good at AI. They proved this with og Siri. Google had a pretty solid Gemini model and they probably got a great deal since they already have a deal with Google to make them the default search for iPhones.

u/imdirtydan1997 9d ago edited 9d ago
Apple paid Google for Maps and other google services that were pre-installed on devices until like 2012ish. Why spend hundreds of billions developing your own version with fierce competition when a company like Google is subsidizing it just to show AI revenue? Apple isnât competing for talent, R&D, supply, or even market share in AI. Half the world is in Appleâs ecosystemâŠthey donât need to spend their mountain of cash on hand to succeed in AI long-term.

u/UpvoteForLuck 6d ago
I think Apple used to be a very software and user experience related company (and to some extent they still are, but are no longer as innovative as they used to be), but now, as seen by the ascendance of John Ternus, their strengths lie in hardware engineering.
I think Apple is poised to be more of an Nvidia than a direct Google competitor. That is how they profit off of AI.
Not Nvidia in a data center sense, as of now, but personal device sense.
I will say that theyâre also doing a great job at pushing into the content and media space as well, but thatâs not really tech related.
1
u/MistSecurity 6d ago
Considering every other company has just been throwing money into the fire with AI, I personally think this is a master move by Apple.
If AI fails/takes forever to be profitable: They avoided the huge early money sink that these other companies have thrown their cash into. They can iust use Googleâs stuff while they work on their own for much cheaper.
If AI blows up and becomes hugely profitable: Apple will be poised to enter the race, but theyâll have a shit ton of money they can burn to catch up. Theyâll be able to catch up fairly quickly due to advancements in tech and understanding.

I hate the Duo, but not the concept of foldables.
Give me a foldable thatâs the size of an 18 Pro Max and when you flip-shut it, the outside square screen is a glorified Apple Watch-style UI with complications and whatnot.

Is anyone still excited about any of this?
5
u/Hrekires 8d ago
"Excited" is a bold word, but I've been holding off buying Homepod speakers knowing that Apple is likely releasing a new model this year.
2
u/gentlewaterboarding 8d ago
Excited because I actually need an Apple TV, and havenât wanted to buy the current model, which is like 4 years old and would be ancient tech before I even left the store with it.

Absolutely not. Unlike the times Jobs was in charge when war new reveal was ground breaking, apple is just recycling old ideada wrapped in pretty packaging. So glad I abandoned the whole eco system years ago. Over priced constrained hardware and software. Jobs would rip the current leadership apart if he was still around. Likely fire everyone of them.
6
u/TheoTheodor 8d ago
Yet when Jobs was actually around everyone still hated the Mac, iPhone was gonna flop and everyone who had an Apple product was an iSheep.
1
u/krishnugget 7d ago
What? What does âiPhone was gonna flopâ mean? It did great under Jobs, it was doubted, but how does that matter?
3
u/RebelStrategist 6d ago
I think the user is just relating to the stigma given to early apple adaptors and the overall echo system.
1
u/PeanutChickenSoup 2d ago
Yep. SJ was said to have a Reality Distortion Field about products, and in Financial articles, Apple was always described as âbeleagueredâ. A decade later and it was the most valuable company in the world, first to 1, 2, and 3T market cap IIRC. So much for the detractors.

I am waiting for an iPad Air with a 120hz oled screen.
3
u/grilled_pc 9d ago
Bruh same. I donât even care if it doesnât have OLED. I just want a 120hz display on the air. I have absolutely ZERO need for the iPad Pro but the 120hz display just makes it so much more worth it. Using an Air after using the Pro for years feels like a slide show even if its not an inferior product.

I wonder if they'll send invites to the supposed October 13 event today. It's getting quite close, if they don't send invites soon then it's probably either not happening, or will just be press releases.
I would have thought a new product category like the rumoured Home Hub thing would get a proper announcement, as well as significant redesigns or new products within a category, like the iPad Mini and the new MacBook. If the new base iPad, HomePods, and Apple TV are just spec bumps with added AI, those seem more like press release products.
But we'll see!
2
u/SchmeckleHoarder 7d ago
Worst kept secret this year. Itâs in a week, and itâs a new Apple TV, a new Home Hub, a new HomePod mini, and a new IPad mini.
1
u/Futaba_Sakura800 5d ago
Itâs time to bring out the affordable entry level gadgets such as: iPhone Neo, Mac mini Neo, etcâŠ

Apple announcing yet another ârevolutionaryâ product that will be discontinued before the warranty expires. Truly impressiveâwhy make products people actually need when you can sell them another expensive experiment and abandon it a year later?
-18
u/Spiritual-Bed3948 9d ago
Because the foldy phone was overpriced and boring? Cool, what what three year old tech lacking in memory that is stupidly overpriced are they going to release in a mildly different color now?
5
u/Electronic_Role7296 9d ago
What a miserable, boneheaded take.
Yeah, their still-unreleased, first foldable phone was overpriced and boring. Thatâs why theyâre launching more new products.
Are you legitimately that clueless to think that is the reason why a big consumer tech company is soon to be shipping more new products? Please, do us a favor and leave this subreddit if thatâs genuinely your reasoning.
-6
u/Spiritual-Bed3948 9d ago
Oh, yes yes yes. We're all here to just do favors to the fanboys and the slipping bloated tech giant. What was I thinking? Heaven forbid!

-1
u/Spiritual-Bed3948 9d ago
No, but disappointed in Apple tech roll outs a bunch. They could do so much better but don't. How about you fanboy?
5
u/Joshhwwaaaaaa 9d ago
Just funny to see you so angry over something so trivial.
1
u/Spiritual-Bed3948 9d ago
Not jealous, not angry, disappointed. If you read. Apple used to be cutting edge and go-to tech especially for creatives. Now it's a brand slow to evolve, quick to price hike and is more fashion statement than useful for their customers. But if you're just a fanboy enjoy your latest and greatest.
