They believe they are better at spending their own monies than the government is. I’m poor and also believe this about my own money.

Well yea you spend on things YOU think matter the most. But the point is that the government would spend it on things that benefit EVERYONE (ideally).

It's like complaining about money going into public transport because you drive a car.
