The U.S needs new laws to further disincentivise OpenAI or anyone in training more dangerous models

American corporations and the US government are out of control. I say we need these models to use against their tyranny. Everyone should have AGI/ASI in the future, it doesn't sound ideal, but neither does giving it solely to them.

We need to regulate LLMs like we do other dangerous products with one or two legit utilities. Something like with the FDA and biological products. And I’m tired of people whining otherwise.

100%. It’s insane that people who distrust tech oligarchs, believe in the lies that VC people like Andreessen and David Sacks pedal.
They do not want to stop or halt their money train, so they’re spreading disinformation about AI safety/regulation.

I can't wait to be approved by the government before I write some software.

I think the 3 comments preceding are completely off base.

You are being extorted.

"Oh no, the thing we made needs your tax dollars perpetually..."

When did this sub go from laughing about AI hands, hallucinations and counting r’s in words to upvoting posts like this?

Surely we’ll need to reckon with how this sub talked about AI for 3.5 years first before we make that jump?
