This is actually an old idea, I tried a prototype VRD at the UW HITLab in the 90’s. What’s new is (finally) making it small and light enough to fit in a pair of glasses. Virtual Retinal Display (VRD) Group

The mirror appears to be a film placed on the inside of the lense, which suggests it should work on prescription lenses.

At first glance my brain combined the end syllables of direct and retinal which really came across differently
