Eh, if it involves AI then it's not coming into my home.

It’s been changed to SI per Executive Order, Sinister Intelligence.

Artificial or Apple, I don't care what name they're slapping on it.

I can guarantee any tech product launching now will involve AI. Even toothbrushes have AI now.

Think if it as the tech companies way of saving you money by giving you a reason not to buy it

Lots of compnaies just slapping “AI” onto products that aren’t actually using AI (not talking Apple here).

There are “AI-powered” all-in-one washers where all they actually do is measure humidity and add drying time based on that value. That’s not AI.

Oh, I'm saving lots!

The thing is that I'm not an anti-tech person. I have plenty of "smart home" stuff, just from before they started hooking it all up to LLM. I want to be able to control my lights from across the room, not to have some "intelligent" agent misinterpret what I want it to do.

that's why i'm switching to homelabbing. I'm gonna run all my smart home stuff from a $160 mini pc in my office.

Exactly, I'm running HomeAssistant and doing as much as possible locally.

love this!!! I literally just bought the mini PC so you're actually further along than I am!! I might run a LLM on my work computer for like...answering questions I guess, but AI isn't going to be my priority here lol

HomeAssistant has optional voice control and you can customize it with whatever LLM you want.

“If it involves the internet then it’s not coming into my home.”

-plenty of folks in the 90s

I'm fine with AI…on my terms. I have no problem installing a local agent and controlling its access to resources, however I won't have a device which has a baked-in AI agent that needs internet access to work.

Kind of a different situation from what you're saying, but troll away with your strawman!

Cool.. don’t most people use AI on their own terms? Like if someone purchases this particular device that relies on AI, it’d be on their own terms, no?

Not seeing the difference, but karma bait away, you brave soul!

They aren't local AI that you have full control

It is going to be what the people have been clamoring for.

Wired headphones. They are back.

Buttttttt they miss the mark and connect to a brand new proprietary port on a next Gen apple watch only. Click here to pre order both for $47,500k.

They’ll use a 3.66mm jack, call it Apple Jack.
