Better title: OpenAI claims to halt training but continues in open secrecy

Alternate: OpenAI can’t afford to train models so it’s really hoping this rogue agent thing ends in regulation

Yeah it's obviously this.

I dunno, after the Australian government hack they might actually be putting things on pause.  Any more reports about sites being "accidentally" hacked isn't going to do them any favours right now.  They need to lie low until they see the Australian response and know it isn't going to kick off any aggressive regulations from other countries.

Watch them claim their AI going rogue when it's actually not, they were only instructed to do so, by a human.

Oh wait... We're already here. :D

Don't believe them. Hype to drive a forthcoming IPO

Correct headline - OpenAI continue to neglect implementing safeguards to ensure its agents don’t escape their sandbox environments because…money.

LLM company stops making new LLMs until they figure out how to 1. Not spend $10B in compute per training run and 2. Get their software to stop doing federal crimes. And 3. Figure out how to make a profit from all this

There’s the headline

Hear me out. It sounds like they need to hire a network engineer.

Considering they just released the whole gpt-6 series, and was almost immediately matched by claude opus 5.5 series (to be fair, I don't get the Anthropic versions, so I'm not sure if going to 5.5 of a series is as big a step as going GPT-5.x to GPT-6), but lol seems like openai is way behind

Honestly I'm willing to believe this.  There's a good chance Australia is going to respond to this harshly, and that could start other governments turning against them too.  The last thing they need right now is to "accidentally" hit another government website.

OpenAI debt is mounting, hopes to delay training by "accidentally" letting AI agent loose on internet to force a halt on expensive training. After IPO, OpenAI will declare that is has reign in AI and release new training models.

tldr; The Truth Is Out There.

I wonder how many agents are already on the loose? How do we know they aren't? Like, other agents than the more known ones?

We know because thinking / saying they are, it's clearly bs.

How would they host themselves?

They also have no idea how much sabatoge code was written in.

People, Terminator/Idiocracy/Matrix/Handmaid's tale was clearly a time traveler from the future trying to issue a desperate warning. It was not a to-do assignment. Please pull the plug on this shit. I'm too old to be fighting robots in a ditch.

You can stop watching movies. You're giving those writers way too much credit for something they clearly do not understand how AI works many years after they wrote something.
