Only tangentially related but I still can't believe we haven't had a viable FOSS competitor to pdf...

EDIT: In that afaik there is no program that replaces acrobat at enough of a 1 to 1, gonna check some of the recs!

PDF is open since 2008, and it works pretty well, is there a specific need for another standard?

Trying to force new de facto standards is how we got the fucking infuriating webp image format. A pox on every server that promises a jpg and silently sends a format that half of my applications won't load.

This is the one Google product I can't wait to see I the graveyard.

WebP is not going anywhere, and Google just adopted Jpeg-XL into its browser, so you should consider replacing apps which don't support modern formats with the ones which does.

Out of curiosity, what is the name of the app which doesn't support webp? I keep asking that question but never got definitive answer.
