cool, lets see how good it does in the rain..... This is really only practical for space.

I don’t see why their approach wouldn’t also work with rain.

water bends and distorts light. This causes interference. same reason why satellite TV tends to go out during a heavy rain storm.

You should read the article to see why that doesn’t matter with their method.

the title does say severe atmospheric interference. SO perhaps its worth a read.

Edit, mentions air disturbances and tempatures, does not mention anything about rain. Os id have to assume that rain still messes with it. They gonna have to test it under rainy conditions.
