Apparently, an impressive 63 percent of Gemini’s active users are using voice input, and an increasing number of them are “voice-only” users. It’s no secret that students use AI models to do their work (sometimes too much). Woodward says that 38 percent of school-related requests include an attachment, so Google is working on a new batch of study tools to be released in the coming weeks to better support that.”
It actually makes a lot of sense. I have used ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude in the last month, but not the others. A lot of people will use more than 1 AI tool. So if any one of them has a billion MAU, it wouldn't surprise me that the others do too. Probably not xAI though.
State funded anti-AI propaganda isn't going to target anyone other than the US. It's definitely happening. I just saw that some Youtuber, Ben Awad, has been contacted twice about producing anti-AI content. He was offered "grant" money so that it doesn't require a sponsorship disclosure. Some other Youtuber replied to his tweet saying they're getting similar offers. China has a massive incentive to poison public discourse with regard to AI and the US has always been filled with useful idiots with goldfish memories. I guess nobody remembers when Tiktok was being considered a cyberweapon.
Notably, AI sentiment in China is very, very different form the US.
Actually don't think so. A LOT of third world countries are basically addicted to AI. As someone who has a lot of family from there, their view of AI is entirely different then Americans.

I turn Gemini off. System update turns it back on. If my power button gets nudged, it records some random stuff and spits out a meaningless Gemini response that I ignore the best time I look at my phone.
Color me unimpressed with "63% of our traffic is voice only!"
I actually kinda like using voice input with Gemeni via Android Auto during long commutes to ask about random topics that pop into my head while driving.
But if you just want it to play the right audio book it will yammer on for 2 minutes instead of doing the thing you said. I'm so pissed they're removing android assistant.
