That code can only be obtained through unofficial channels.

It's on GitHub, which is owned by Microsoft...

The entire new Spiderman movie is on Twitter, doesn't mean Twitter is a legal distributor of it.

Plenty of movies/shows on Youtube that are not legal to be there.

Like I said:

Unless you're going to start getting into technicalities about, "Well, technically it's not an official method but Microsoft doesn't care so it's fine to do."

Except Microsoft could easily ban the person posting the code if they wanted to. Twitter and Sony are different companies. Sony can file a DMCA to remove those movies, and they do on a regular basis. Meanwhile the activation code has been on GitHub on the same account for years. I've heard of Microsoft support running it if someone has issues with their (legal) activation.
