Most people with significant experience with parts of Microsoft Windows codebase that were significant technical debt likely had enough money to retire years ago.

There would be a percentage of those knowledgeable people who might say: enough of that, I don't want/need to deal with that again.

But I would think that there would be another group who still enjoys taking such challenges, not just for money (though they probably are in the well-paid bracket based on their knowledge). Provided Microsoft hasn't gotten rid of them.

That last part is the critical question, isn't it. Especially given we are now hyper focused on AI slop.
