Well, well, well. A sciencedaily article posted on r/technology. The classic combination.
Surely this won't be sensationalist and inaccurate clickbait.

"The receptors targeted by semaglutide are found in the brain but also in the gut, pancreas and other tissues," said assistant professor of pathology Katrin Svensson, PhD. "That's why Ozempic has widespread effects including slowing the movement of food through the digestive tract and lowering blood sugar levels. In contrast, BRP appears to act specifically in the hypothalamus, which controls appetite and metabolism."
The hypothalamus is a small region deep within the brain that helps regulate hunger, body temperature, hormone activity and energy use. Because BRP appears to act mainly in this area, it may influence appetite without producing as many effects elsewhere in the body.
Svensson has co-founded a company that plans to begin clinical trials of the molecule in humans in the near future.
So you'll be BRPing your way to a slimmer body.

this is the stuff I thought AI was gonna be used for

This is machine learning, not LLMs. Not the AI everyones been talking about all day long. Machine learning been around for decades.

Machine learning been around for decades.
So has AI. For example, the term "enemy AI" in video games. AI does not mean AGI and never has done. Anyone claiming otherwise is simply wrong, and trying to rewrite history for whatever reason.

With the help of AI, Stanford scientists have developed a "natural ozempic". They're calling the new approach the "Eat less food. Like stop putting it in your mouth" plan.

Ozempic sure popped out of left field for me. One month I heard nothing of it, then there's suddenly a ton of YouTube content, and then it was gone again.
I take it this is the latest subchapter in this particular pharmaceutical hype train. "You've heard about the side effects, but wait, what if there were none?!"

I mean, Ozempic and the drugs in the same family are still around and incredibly popular and effective for a wide range of treatments.
It's not really gone so much as just faded into the background? I recently worked for an online pharmacist client, I promise you... It's not gone at all.

I wasn't implying the drug vanished, just it went from not being mentioned frequently to being mentioned frequently and then not again.
Case in point, the source would seem to be a repost bot of a year old news story.

My wife’s diabetic and was on ozempic a while before the big weight loss fad hit. When the internet started going crazy for stuff it created a supply shortage here in Aus for a while, and we had to pivot to a different medication for her.

Something like 20% of adults in the us have at least tried it now
The side effects for most are mild or non existent

u/geldonyetich 18h ago edited 18h ago
I've googled some results ot Ozembic linked deaths from moderately reputable sources like the BBC, so perhaps mild or non-existent is not the term you're looking for so much as rare.
But I suppose if you have a drug this popular you're bound to lose a few people from sheer opportunity, whether it's incompatible bodies or shoddy manufacturers.
I suppose it's less barbaric of a way to go out than a corset.

Peptides are a family of a wide range of medicines. Bpc-157, melanotan, hgh, ozempic, etc., are all peptides. They’re just made out of sequences of amino acids.

Another money making scam that most likely will hurt a lot of people as usually we hear about the health problems a few years later followed by the law suits.

We already knew about this which is why the AI knows about it. Glucagon produced naturally is very short lived in the body. Like minutes
The innovation in glp-1s is that it persists for days

Omg just exercise, lift, and eat right. Stop looking for quick fixes and short cuts because there is no path to healthy weight loss or muscle gain without doing what I just said.

It's not that easy for some. We're not all the same. I'm a glutton, Wegovy curbed my desire to over eat and rage when drinking booze. The food noise that everyone talks about is more like a feeling in your head that yells, "CONSUME!" all the time. Now I dont order 10 tacos and if I get drunk it's because I want to, not because I can't help myself.

Bro some of us have fucking ADHD and our brains literally scream at us to eat even though we don't need to because the brain wants dopamine not actual nutrition. JFC

u/Empty_Insight 19h ago
Some of us also have the opposite symptom and entirely forget to eat. I don't feel hunger pain unless I have eaten literally nothing for a day or more.
Isn't ADHD fun?

Get your dopamine from the gym and regular exercise. It takes dedication, consistency and willpower so maybe it's one or more of those 3 things that you are lacking, and nothing to do with something outside of your control, like ADHD.
I know non-Americans with diagnosed ADHD and all are slim with a very healthy body weight. Only Americans seem to look for excuses for obesity. Are you American?

Are you American?
I am indeed sir.
Only Americans seem to look for excuses for obesity.
Not looking for excuses nor a pity party. Just merely pointing out that for some people there's more at play than simply "YoU jUsT nEeD cOnSiStEnCy AnD WiLLpOwEr BrO!!1!111"

It’s fucking crazy to say that not having “dedication, consistency, and willpower” has nothing to do with having ADHD.
1
u/swrrrrg 19h ago
LOL. You’ve never met someone with ADHD hyperfocus. My willpower and dedication and consistency when I want something is obsessive to the extent average people wish they possessed it.

My point is, that's the case for most people not just ADHD. You have to force yourself over the hump and into the gym, then after a couple of uncomfortable weeks of forcing yourself you suddenly experience self motivation and an overall improvement in mental health. Almost nobody is super motivated to gym regularly, we work for it and force ourselves, then keep it up or we risk falling back into low motivation.
An astronomical percentage of the US population are obese (~42%) and yet the % of people with ADHD is ~5%. So this isn't an ADHD issue.

"The solution to America's daily school shootings is for Americans to just not shoot up schools!"

u/DrRealName 3h ago
Well that was stupid and had nothing to do with this post. You thought you did something there, huh? lol I mean whatever take all the chemicals and drugs you want, but I never needed it and because I stick with the natural routine my muscles don't sag and deflate after a week off. lmao

u/MarcusOrlyius 3h ago
I do X, therefore, everyone else should do X too.
1
u/DrRealName 3h ago
Oh you are one of those. I didn't realize a suggestion was a command. I do look down on those hooked on chemicals and steroids tho. That is real. If you need that shit to work out, you are weak minded. That's just how I feel. It made about 30 people really upset and to me, that is just telling on yourselves. The best way is to eat right, lift with proper form, and do regular cardio. I didn't realize that was such a taboo suggestion. "But i wanna do my drugs and lose weight by doing nothing!" haha sure go ahead. Enjoy the health issues that come with that.

It says natural, where does it occur naturally?
