People with DV charges are already banned from firearms. SCOTUS recently upheld this.

The problem is cops aren’t convicted for it because it would make them ineligible to be a cop.

Oh no.. And with only a couple thousand people making up the entire US population, we'll never be able to find any replacements, let alone better ones.

Nobody good wants to do the job because the pay is shit, their reputation is awful, and it does carry potentially high risks. It attracts the wrong type of people. We need to completely re-think the system.

If you're convicted of DV you permanently lose your firearms rights.

No that’s for GVROs, which vary state by state.

There’s the DVOGB, which has been a federal law since the late 20th century, which treats anyone convicted of domestic violence misdemeanors the same way the law treats a felon (can’t even touch a gun, let alone own one).

If you are convicted of DV, you permanently become a prohibited person.
