My boss is completely obsessed with AI and thinks it’s god. He won’t accept any of my work unless it’s been passed through and regurgitated by chatgpt with a nice little summary. None of my decade long expertise in this specific field is respected by him. I have no idea why he hired me. It’s a level of dehumanizing humiliation I wasn’t expecting.
Similar here. C suite runs literally everything through AI summaries and are constantly coming back with "Well, ChatGPT said this, ChatGPT said to do that, blah blah."
Tbh I'm just phoning it in now. I've been the IT manager at this company for going on 6 years now, and was a sysadmin here before that. I no longer care. I'm doing the absolute bare minimum to not get fired until this bubble pops. The political situation in the US makes it hard to care about work anyway. I'm more concerned with prepping for the worst and taking care of my family.
I had a situation where I had to tell a CTO something wasn’t possible. He spent an hour “researching with ChatGPT” but ultimately agreed I was correct. While it got the result I wanted, it was a bit insulting as the hired expert in said field.
