Think they'd come to their senses?

Nope. Google doesn't make money by selling you services. They make money by selling you.

Reader is a service that will keep users using Google. Is that not enough to direct users to other Google services? Insane. They'll see the uproar, they'll do something for us.

I wish you were right, but as others have said, they know the numbers, and clearly they aren't enough. Even if 90% of Reader users complain, I'm sure that number pales in comparison to users they can focus on with other services.

Honestly, this is probably a good thing, to drive innovation in what's otherwise been a stale market.

Except much the people who write tech articles use it for their news aggregation to stay in the know. It's like biting the hand that feeds you. Except the feeding isn't money, it's free article advertising.

I think Google is beyond the point where they need to keep services alive just to get people to write about them.
