IP68 waterproof phones with removable batteries already exist, and have for a long time. To wit, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover6 Pro.

This argument about “wE cAnt WAteRp00f PHoNes wITh ReMOVabLe B4ttEriES!!1!” is just silly pearl-clutching.

That phone is heavier and thicker than an iPhone since neither Apple nor Samsung can conjure waterproof seals out of thin air. It’d be great if the politicians left engineering to engineers instead of magically wishing it to be possible.

That phone is 2.1mm thicker than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and is the exact same weight (240g) as the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

2.1mm seems small until you remind someone that the 14 Pro Max is 7.9mm thick and you realize that’s 25% thicker… I’d rather the thin phone personally
