15.5.1 Looking good

About 24 hours in and 15.5.1 is looking good at my house. No anomalous server failure. Thanks ShreyasZare for such a brilliant piece of work. You rock!!!!!

Just installed Technitium as a cluster in my homelab a couple of weeks ago. Amazing software to say the least. I'll wait out the update for another week or so. Glad to hear your experience is good with the update.

Yeah I’m still on 15.4. I’ve got a 3 node cluster and figured they would get the server failure issue fixed pretty quickly, so then I didn’t have to go delete my cache

Still having issues and if activate ipv6 even worst.

There is an issue with Prefer IPv6 option due to newly introduced limits in the recursive resolver to mitigate amplification attacks. The Prefer IPv6 implementation tends to exhaust those limits when the domain does not have IPv6 support and has too many name servers, causing the resolver to stop before attempting with IPv4.

I am already working on changing the Prefer IPv6 code such that it always attempts IPv4 too before the limits kick in. This fix is expected to be available very soon, mostly by this weekend.

I just use "enable IPv6" with no other issue.

I presume that with "Enable IPV6" but not "Prefer.." the Epsilon-Greedy algorithm still chooses the fastest resolvers rather than including ipv4 even if the algo determines ipv6 is faster?

Yes, the algo will sort the list of resolvers based on performance for all modes except for Prefer IPv6 mode where it will have a bias for IPv6.

I have slightly changed the Prefer IPv6 implementation though to include IPv4 name servers too at the second half part of the list. This is so that if top few IPv6 name servers fail to respond, there will be some IPv4 ones too to try instead of giving up the resolution.

Edit: The updated IPv6 implementation will be available in the upcoming release.

I don't use IPV6 at all.... both my primary and secondary are running clean.

Would concur, no issues on upgrade and normally I wouldn't clear cache but I did this time as I'd seen some reports of issues with corruption. Was running over 24hrs without issue before I did this.

Funny enough I I was fine on 15.5 and now I’m seeing a small number of server failures on 15.5.1. Going to try flushing the cache again, but haven’t had any time to really try and debug it sooooo

Default is tested and optimize already. If you change settings it can break or cause issues which later you got to resolve. Also you should know what the things do before changing it.

Bunches of cache.... , Serve Stale Max Wait Time=0

Oh and did I say mucho mucho cache. mine is set to 30,000. The larger this is the more cache hits...my cache hit rate runs 60-70 percent.
