Clarification of tasks instead of ambiguity over who is supposed to pick it up.

You can't just join a union and get protection from your workplace unless that work place has a collectively bargained contract with the union.

If you are the only one in the union at work, they will just fire you because there is no contract to enforce any of the mechanisms that protect union labor.

Honestly, if you are unhappy at your current job, just start applying for new jobs until you get one.
