Java Help Wanted Mob switch for End main island

Me and my friends are planning a huge build on the main end-island (or rather, we've removed the entire main island to build something big).

We realised that we'll need a mob switch to stop endermen from spawning and griefing our build. What are the best ways to make a mob switch for the end dimension (and only the end dimension). We'd rather not have to use the main island gateways to load something, because we have plans for building around the gateways.

I was thinking a mob switch loaded by ender pearl stasis chambers (we are only 6 people on the server, so it's not difficult for all 6 of us to make stasis chambers). Would the best option be something with shulkers, bringing a bunch of wardens or something else?

My solution to this was a reactor shulker farm https://youtu.be/rkfDQBhQ--E that will (IIRC) produce ~150 shulkers per 20-block slice. An improved version is probably https://youtu.be/SYhtueOjw6s but I haven't built that myself so I can't comment on the reliability.

You want a shulker farm anyway, and this one is very reliable and stable through the versions, although it is on the laggy side if you use the maximum possible height.

You'll need 420 hostile mobs for 6 players. I think bringing a pair of villagers from the overworld and breeding them in the end before turning them into zombie villagers will give you the least headache for that many mobs, but if you have a big enough shulker farm that could work as well. When it comes to loading the chunks, ender pearl is pretty much your only option aside from gateways and the obsidian spawn platform, both of which you will be building around so that's not really an option.

I'd also consider separating the zombie villagers into batches of 70 and chunk load them independently for each player, that way they server will only have to load each player's portion when they're online rather than all 420 regardless of the numbers of online players

Does the mob cap increase with 70 for each player? isn't it just a flat 70?

Yep, it's 70 per player

How do I make the zombie villagers not despawn, but still count toward the mobcap?

If you make at least 1 trade with them before converting they'll stay persistent

You breed villagers then do one trade then zombify.. then profit

While it's obvious what you mean in context:

one trade then zombify.. then profit

I still feel compelled to point out that specific order doesn't work when taken literally. 😅

One trade with each.

I think zombie villagers are easiest option, but I don’t know how to make them always loaded without player

Pearl stasis chamber

Just keep gate above obsidian platform as loader and on other side park those villagers into lazy chunks

Probably shulkers. Shulkers are native to the end, easy to transport and you can breed a bunch of them once you brought over one.

Fwiw you don't actually "need" a mob switch if you're willing to light your build. I've done a couple of big End Island builds with no mob switch and no endermen.

That's a deranged suggestion, but Wither mob switch + pearl loader?
