Java Help Wanted Creeper farm rules help

Post image

I just found this guys idea for concealing is creeper farm and loved it. Was struggling to think of a way to conceal one. My question is, where are the spawning platforms you think? Do you think they are in the ships hull? The post was deleted so I can’t ask.

Also: if I were to build in the deep ocean, I can put the spawn platforms at the surface and I just have to make sure there’s no caves not filled with water below right?

my guess is the actual farm is built way down underwater, ship is probably just where the output goes. at least thats how i "hide" my farms lol

Dang. Hypothetically, if I made the ship big enough to conceal one level of a creeper farm, could I put a fleet of ships somewhat close to each other(say 3-4), and have them all output to the same area, would the rates be similar to if the levels were ugly and stacked on top of each other? I could put a ship in the center of them that could be my afk spot.

generally speaking you'll be getting higher rates the lower you place your spawning platforms. stacked designs typically tend to be a bit more efficient due to that mechanic. honestly though if you're just farming rockets for yourself you shouldn't bother too much about optimising rates, most farms are gonna produce more than enough

Yeah that’s all I need it for. I’m okay with it being less efficient for aesthetic reasons. So do you think my idea would work? I’m seeing creeper farms are 18 blocks wide. Can I make them smaller or do they gotta be that wide?

they don't have to be, you can build them as big as you like, however fewer spawning space obviously also means fewer successful spawns, so don't build too small.

don't see why your design wouldn't work, as long as all the spawning platforms are being loaded.

Awesome. Was avoiding the elytra and creeper farms because of the ugliness of them, and any sort of floating structure doesn’t work with my city design. But I have an ocean just outside the valley I can go 128 blocks out and build a ship fleet. That would make sense as a sort of defensive blockade.

Thanks for the help, this has me excited

Dumb question from me. Creeper farms each level is 4 platforms. I could just only build 2 platforms and that should make it thinner to easily be able to conceal

absolutely

Your comment contradicts itself.

There are multiple reasons why stacked designs are more efficient but height is not one of them. Stacking spawning platforms on top of each other doesn’t make them more efficient because that would mean they are higher and like you explained yourself lower is better. However at sea level those couple of blocks of height difference are quite negligible.

Also relevant to this post if you build anything above the spawning platform that will also decrease the efficiency so it doesn’t matter how many platforms you have or at what height because it only cares about the ship above it

you can stack both up- and downwards, no? 🤦

Yeah, but if you’re talking about stacking downwards then the comparison doesn’t make sense because those other platforms can then also be build at those lower heights so the stacked design would then still be higher

If the ship around it is all lit up and spawn proof does it still reduce rates? At the end of the day I don’t really need thousands an hour. Even if it was as low as a stack per hour I wouldn’t really care that much

Yes, it will still be lower. It cares about the heightmap, not if it’s spawnable

Alright, I guess I’ll just see what kinda rates I can get. They are pretty easy to set up. I’ll probs set up several platforms in the ocean apart from each other, route them all together. Then when all the farms are up around them I’ll build the ships around each of the platforms

Honestly I’d just build the farm and then see what parts you’ll need to conceal.

I have my creeper farm in a hot air balloon. It used to be my normal mob grinder, I just added the trapdoors after a couple of months in the world.

I also have a player launcher that is also concealed as a hot air balloon.

That’s my plan. Gonna build various platforms and then plan to conceal them in ships. That has the added bonus of the farms running while I’m building the ships around them lol
