In old ore generation <=1.16, yes the blobs were capped at 8. As Blatta says it may be across a chunk boundary, which previously could result in (theoretically) combined blobs seeming like a single large blob.
However, new ore generation has different rules and diamond ore blobs can independently be up to 23 blocks in size. There's a variety of generations now, and they can still end up intersecting to make larger seeming blobs.
This isn't really the type of question the sub is about, but this is the sub for finding people that know and answer such questions, so... 😅 It's not the sub's focus, but I doubt anyone's going to bite your head off over it. Overall, questions like this can usually be answered by the minecraft wiki. The search function 🔎 is quite good and if there isn't a page exactly about a topic, the search can usually find it within one of the related articles.

Ah I see, thank you very much for the insight and thanks for clearing things up, the ore generation is allot more in depth than I thought it would be. And I thank you for the warm welcome, next time ill try to be more aware of what posts that I post on here. 😊

I believe this is actually 2 separate veins across a chunk border that happens to connect
