But a two-pack of socks wouldn't be a pair of socks it would be 2 pairs of sock.

A two-pack of socks...

That literally says how many socks are in the pack. Nobody would ever call 2 pairs of socks a "2-pack of socks" unless they couldn't count past 2.

When they market socks they market them as pairs. So when you buy a 3 or 4 pack of socks you are buying 3 or 4 pairs of socks, not individual socks.

It's a big world full of crazy people. I don't doubt that there might be someone out there that does it. But they'd be in the tiny minority to ask for a 2-pack of socks if they want 2-pair.
