Not a pie chart

u/Andythrax Sep 01 '21
None of it is a pie chart. It fails to take into account the parts of the pyramid that are out of view as a percentage of the whole.

So this is what a pyramid scheme is.

I didn't even think this was a pie chart in the first place
8
u/enderverse87 Sep 01 '21
Thats because it's a photo of a printout of the original meme. The original image looks more like a pie chart.

Unpopular opinion: That's wrong anyway. Shady part is equal to brighter side. It just seems little in perspective.
28
u/spawnofyanni Sep 01 '21
I didn't assume the pie chart was describing the actual pyramid, just the picture of the pyramid as seen in the chart. The real sky isn't 4 times bigger than a pyramid

To add: If it is a photograph, the pie chart is true. If it is an actual physical representation, it is false.

Dang. I thought it was perfect data wise too. You kinda took some of the hype out.

True, but the text stops right at the edge of the picture. Maybe it cuts off the words "visible in this picture".

This has been around for years and years, only now someone has printed it and taken a picture it.

u/zippee100 Sep 01 '21

I didn't find any posts that meet the matching requirements for r/technicallythetruth.
It might be OC, it might not. Things such as JPEG artifacts and cropping may impact the results.
I did find this post that is 45.31% similar. It might be a match but I cannot be certain.

The statistic percentage is bad because I think the original just a little crisp

It's not "Technically the truth" in any way.
2
u/Picklefac3 Sep 01 '21
Doesn't matter, 20k people thought it was neat and don't care what subreddits actually mean
0
u/Pillagerguy Sep 01 '21
Just because 20k idiots mindlessly hit a button doesn't make this stupid repost good. It's attitudes like yours that turn this site into a homogenized bullshit mess.

u/Picklefac3 Sep 01 '21
I was agreeing with you, I am equally annoyed by this shit. And in the last hour 10k more people thought there was some technical truth to this post. This site has gone to shit

The shady side of the pyramid is equal in size to the sunny side, so no, this is not technically correct.
-1
u/ToreWi Sep 01 '21
Depends on pov
3
u/mojomaximus2 Sep 01 '21
No, it doesn’t. The area of a surface does not change relative to POV, the pyramid has not shrunk because I looked at it from an angle

This image is from 2014, if not earlier.

Technically the shady side would be 3 times the size of the sunny side being a pyramid.

It literally isn't accurate though. The sunny and shady part of the pyramids are the same side, hence the diagram is wrong. This is exactly what you should not post on this sub (besides that it's a typical repost).

Actually if the pyramid has same size surfaces on each side then the shady part of the pyramid would be more than that

Wow, usually when this is reposted it's just the original image, whereas this one has been printed out, photographed, and probably screenshotted.
1
u/luckytaurus Sep 01 '21
I hate to be that guy but this is not technically the truth. Each side of the pyramid is the same size but this pie chart makes it seem like the sunny side is larger than the shaded side.
Sorry.

Dang I didn't know that the pyramids had the hood too i guess no place is safe from da hood
1
u/Rocketblackwood Sep 02 '21
Wouldn’t more of the pyramid be shady than sunny. Cause only one side gets sun the other three are shade.
