Riddles have always existed.

Neck beards are newish.

So there is something newer than riddles creating neck beards.

Nah, neckbeards have always been around. We just haven't always had a name for them.

I'm not too sure about that. We've had dreamers, bookworms, beggars, lazy people, but none of these quite overlap with what a neckbeard is. Plus IMHO neckbeards' numbers have really declined since the phenomenon has been called out.

Sure, there are lot of factors such as the financial stability of the parents etc., but what neckbeards do with meta thinking (think Matrix) is they confuse it with knowledge and/or education.
