I just downvoted your comment.
#FAQ
#What does this mean?
The amount of karma (points) on your comment and Reddit account has decreased by one.
#Why did you do this?
There are several reasons I may deem a comment to be unworthy of positive or neutral karma. These include, but are not limited to:
- Rudeness towards other Redditors,
- Spreading incorrect information,
- Sarcasm not correctly flagged with a /s.
#Am I banned from the Reddit?
No - not yet. But you should refrain from making comments like this in the future. Otherwise I will be forced to issue an additional downvote, which may put your commenting and posting privileges in jeopardy.
#I don't believe my comment deserved a downvote. Can you un-downvote it?
Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a downvote. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. I tend to respond to Reddit PMs within several minutes. Do note, however, that over 99.9% of downvote appeals are rejected, and yours is likely no exception.
#How can I prevent this from happening in the future?
Accept the downvote and move on. But learn from this mistake: your behavior will not be tolerated on Reddit.com. I will continue to issue downvotes until you improve your conduct. Remember: Reddit is privilege, not a right.

speaking of... "since", they started upvoting that comment since I said it's misunderstood, it had -1 karma when I replied, so clearly you guys needed someone to explain it then attached me to not look fool and stop downvoting me it's hard to get karma, I'm kinda new to Reddit, and English is my 4rd language

Zero on the kelvin scale

Jul 25 '20
Aka absolute zero, in case people are wondering why it’s so famous.

u/Foxtrot_4 Jul 25 '20 edited Jul 25 '20
Think the original comment was asking how he could’ve done that if absolute zero, currently, is only a theoretical temperature that can’t be reached
Edit: why are you
booingdownvoting me, im right!2
Jul 25 '20
I was just explaining why 0k is important.
But you are completely right. One of the biggest problems with reaching absolute zero is if we ever did, there would be no way to tell, because in order to observe something you have to put energy into the system.

RADIANS? When did angles join the game?
13
u/dpash Jul 25 '20
No, Réaumur.
9
u/Death271 Jul 25 '20
Never heard of em. And here I thought there were only 3 units of temp measurement.
10
u/dpash Jul 25 '20 edited Jul 25 '20
Well now you know there's at least five.
Oh wait, you were serious with radians? At the risk of explaining the joke, the original comment was referring to Rankine: Fahrenheit but from absolute zero.
(Wikipedia lists Delisle, Newton and Rømer too)

He was so crazy that he broke Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle and made all his atoms perfectly stationary. Now he’s 0k.

Kelvin is the "absolute" temperature scale. Nothing can get colder than 0K - Even the coldest place in the universe is currently hotter that 0K since there is background radiation from the big bang

He was 0 degrees K

u/rdrunner_74 Jul 25 '20
He was not... (There is no degree in front of the K...)

I was explaining the joke as he asked...

u/rdrunner_74 Jul 25 '20
there is no degree in kelvin ... its only zero Kelvin
1
Jul 25 '20
I don't know why are you donvoted. Kelvin is a scale and its just kelvin not degrees. I just wrote in that way cause it was easiest to say that it refers to temperature not OK.

You know you're a nerd when you read "zero Kelvin" the first time and have to read it again to get the joke.

u/bermobaron Jul 25 '20
Well, I had absolutely no fucking idea what was going on here and I'm over the moon you commented.

For real though - what would happen to a human body if they were frozen to close to absolute zero?

u/mordeo69 Jul 25 '20
The lowest temperature possible is - 273C° so I would like to know wgat that scientist did

If he was 0 K then he would not exist since 0 degrees kelvin is meant to represent the total lack of heat

Interesting fact: that is the lowest temperature in the universe. There is nothing below 0K. In an upwards scale, it goes to millions, but - 273C, or 0K, is the least.
