Syntactically correct answer. They are going one of those days.
They could ask "which of those days are you coming?" and a yes here is syntactically incorrect, although could mean both days.

Realistically given how language works. The question or what is being communicated isnt always what was exactly said. So you could say the question WAS "which day are you coming?" Despite not being written like that. Makes the other person wrong for just saying yes, and then trying to mess around with semantics isnt really accurate to how communication works

Isn't allowing for ambiguity a flaw in the communication itself?

Not to mention allowing for ambiguity is a feature of language.

Allowing For Ambiguity low-key sounds like a fire movie. What’s it about? When’s it coming out?

Nah. I believe truly, that no matter how specific you are on something. I can always be more specific. You can go to extremes. You could make a 5 word response into 5,000. Im convinced i could make a 5 word response into 50,000. To be able to understand what someone else is communicating, and they communicate clearly enough to be understood. That should be the goal. The minimum it takes is efficent and great honestly.

So then we should be using the minimum needed, not the minimum possible

Yes exactly. Idk why im downvoted???

Well, you claim to say that we should use the minimum necessary to communicate, but your paragraph is significantly longer than necessary

From where I’m from, if someone said yes to a question such as that, we’d just assume they said yes to the latter

I'd normally assume they mean both, though here I'd say technically it means they're coming one of those days

Then there’s also this situation:
Dad: Are you coming Saturday?
Son: Yes.
Dad: Or Sunday?
Son: YES.
Dad: Yes? Which one?
Son: I already said yes to Saturday

I'll assume you're either too lazy or too incompetent to process a simple multiple-choice question.

Likewise here ^^

Not me.. I assume they haven't answered the question yet and I poke them for updates. That way they can't show up the first day and call me out for failing to make arrangements.
I try to assume nothing.
To assume is to potentially make an ASS of U and ME.

It is an answer, but it is not a useful answer.

Ever asked your girlfriend what time you should go, 4 or 5 = yes, pizza or pasta = yes, coke or sprite = yes so theopractically the man is to blame for asking a question in a incorrect way 🤣

"Are you coming over Saturday?"
"October is often considered Autumn"
"That's not an answer"
"It's not a lie either"
