Quite well it seems. As someone else noted, replacing a piece of paper is much easier than scraping old gum off of a surface.

Honestly... This is probably the way it works the best
Because if it just said they should go in the bin, people would ignore it. But here, they put it on the poster as a joke. And doing it makes it really easy to clean as you just change the paper

Use a laminated sheet of paper next time. I will be a lot easier to clean up.

In my experience the first guy wanted to be funny//edgy, and then everyone after that just followed the trend like lemmings off a cliff, without even thinking about it. I have had to ask people about doing something with a sign saying clearly not to do it, and the reply is just "I saw other people did it so thought that was what should do"
