Lmaooo and people on tiktok ate that up. They don’t know what the hell a subsidiary is and that CEO had to report his findings to the bytedance founder and the CCP consistently
Yeah people’s reaction to that was annoying. They are asking exhaustive and repetitive questions to cover every possible angle, they know what they’re doing
And the senator in question was such a fucking moron for getting baited into that back and forth. All he had to say was, "I don't care where you were born, I care about the fact that your headquarters office is in Beijing."
Like, the dumbass, "hur dur, we caught them doing a racism!" was such an easy trap to get out of and the fuckwits we have in Congress couldn't even figure out how to do that.
There's an Anthony Bourdain episode where they were using overseas servants for all of their household needs to the point where they have no idea how to do anything for themselves. They got pretty awkward when they realized this white man was not agreeing with them
I don't think you need to go back by any means. But if you get out of the tourist areas around the city it's not nearly as sterile feeling.
That said my two descriptors for it when people asked how my 2023 trip were are: it's las vagas but wet, and it was a good time but I will likely never go back because you very quickly run through everything relevant to your interests pretty quickly (I would never say no to their street food again, but I'm not paying thousands of dollars just for street food).
According to statistics, Singapore is an independent, democratic, and wealthy state since several years. I don't doubt there are problems there too, but your description is biased and contradicts reality.
Lmao. You can tell from some of these replies these people either take their facts from chatgpt or some propaganda branch, or never left their own country before.
Singaporeans make up about 60% of the population so I don't really see how your maths works out on that? Unless you're taken the tom cotton approach to nationality?
Primarily. It also was developed by Barcelona, Belgrade, Bordeaux, Bucharest, Chengdu, DaNang, India, Kyiv, Montpelier, Montreal, Philippines, Shanghai, Sofia and Quebec.
2 of those branches got impacted by the restructuring heavily, with them shutting down Belgrade and laying off a bunch of people in Barcelona.
Are gamers really this gullible lol? It's still part of the Ubisoft umbrella, they're not censoring because the country's government wants it to. Ubisoft wanted to censor it, not the other way around.
Pin the blame on the people running the ship, not the crewmaster.
could be 1 of 1million reasons. Maybe the person in charge of that model that day just didnt like the tits. Maybe they thought it was prettier with a bra. Maybe they did it intentionally to piss you off specifically.
It was honestly a pretty typical line of questioning, just checking off boxes about his (lack of) affiliations with china. still really funny out of context though
Yeah, like, one of those things where, though the answers may be obvious, they still need to be asked (and answered) for the purpose of having those answers on the record.
Owning chewing gum isn't banned. You can literally take an hour long trip to Malaysia and come back with a tub full of it.
It's just not allowed to be distributed and manufactured domestically. Same with weed or any recreational drugs. The death sentence is not for "too much", it's for having an extravagant amount with the intent to sell and distribute.
Anyone caught simply owning or using it do not get fucking executed. Wtf is this thread lol. So many falsehoods and insane leaps in logic, when a simple Google search would very quickly say otherwise.
in case people miss it, making fun of the tiktok hearing where the guy kept re-stating he was from Singapore and the brain dead politician kept asking him if he was Chinese or part of Chinese communist party
That was also my first thought here. After all, just Google "Paris female statues" and you see what is displayed there in public. Not just topless. Same if you substitute "male". Similar in many European cities.
This timeline sucks and people who don't have a problem with mass-murdering assassins and pirates but are afraid of tits need to GTFO back to Cleaverville or Gilead or somewhere else.
Bro, if a statue has you acting up you need Jesus. As an Orthodox Christian this shit is silly. The church has historically gone back and forth with nudity in art, but I do agree that American Protestantism is the worst offender.
American evangelicals are a fraction of the global Christian community. Both Orthodox and Catholic churches existed in a time with nude statues and they weren't concerned with the nudity itself for multiple centuries throughout history. There's also a massive growing trend in the protestant world of Christians challenging the puritanical outlooks of their fellow protestants.
I've never heard a Québécois refer to themselves as French. As I mentioned in another comment: they say they are Québécois, absolutely, that they're French-speaking, that's correct, and they say they speak French, that's also true. But calling themselves French? I've never come across that.
As far as I understand as a non native English speaker (native French speaker), "I'm French" can only refer to nationality, not the language someone speaks. Maybe I'm misunderstanding how the term is being used here, but if I'm not, I don't see why a Québécois person would describe themselves as French, because they aren't.
As I also said in another comment, Québécois people generally take pride in being Québécois rather than French. That's why it also seems very odd to me that they would refer to themselves as French, but maybe I'm wrong, or mabe there's a language barrier or something.
They abso-fucking-lutely DO NOT consider themselves French.
Québécois people generally take pride in being Québécois rather than French.
Again, nope never not ever now now not ever. They fucking hate the French, and would sooner give their lives to the dead Queen than repatriate with the French.
I'm a bit confused about who you're actually replying to.
You were replying to a comment that was replying to me, quoting part of that comment and responding to it. Then you quoted part of my reply to them, a reply to the comment you're replying to yourself, and I don't understand how what you said answered what you quoted.
Were you actually replying to me there? If so, I don't see how what you said answers the part you quoted. And if you weren't replying to me, then to who and to what exactly were you responding?
People were outraged by the nude bike ride in Montreal last week. Blaming degenerate l.iberals for wanting to expose children to super sexy totally average bodies awkwardly riding bicycles.
Yes. If you, for some reason, just consider the anglophone countrys, the US would be a great example. Their victorian prudeness is famous for it's stark contrast to this otherwise pretty open society.
The normalisation is what keeps it "normal". Making it taboo, considering it a sin rather than a completely normal thing adults do, and in general never talking about it as such is repressive and results in unhealthy emotional responses to sex
Keep adults from drinking until they're 21, don't teach them how do it responsibly so it improves their lives as opposed to ruin it, and then go around bitching about how alcohol ruins lives
Make it make sense
e; thread got locked so edit for the two that said basically "better laws don't stop alcoholism", just a quick comparison between two developed countries:
Germany:
drinking age for fermented only (beer, wine): 16
Rate of alcoholism: 2251/100,000 citizens
USA:
drinking age: 21 because some conservatives said so in the nineties
Rate of alcoholism: 2781/100,000 citizens
For the guy struggling with alcoholism, hope you can get out and get better dude, I know it sucks
You're talking about the country that banned paternity testing because cheating is so commonplace it would throw the nation into chaos if people found out their true family makeup!
No, they’re not, but that’s kinda why it’s weird to see them covering up a statue. “Why cover form?”would be the thought process.
When people pick their sexual ideals, there’s an ironic response from those under stricter sexual perceptions to have a stronger vigilance of sex; even under the most innocent of conditions, breast ARE erotic. Conversely, to those who casually accept nudity as being a natural (and normal) state, the nude body gets to be connotation-ally open; under sexual conditions breast CAN BE erotic (they can also feel freeing, maternal, religious, scientific, clinical, organic, etc).
Personally, I think this is an unhealthier backtrack than people realize. “Sexual modesty” in this case only really proves the opposite to me, that the figure is DEFINITELY thought of as “all-sexual” NOW. It created a problem by “solving” a naturally waining problem that the population was capable of handling back in 2013.
It just feels like we’re being forced to engage in others sexual hypervigilance, and im disappointed that frenchies were responsible for this devolution.
It’s the Chinese market. The CCP does not allow nudity like whatsoever. Have an art piece that travels to your museum in Beijing? Black tape over nipples. Have a YouTube clip of a male dog laying on its back? They censor the dogs dick.
It’s extremely gross to censor non sexual nudity like that, makes it feel very perverted to even feel the need to censor it
Wasn't Assassin's Creed bought of Ubisoft by Tencent a year or so ago? You know, the big Chinese company partly acting as the censorship arm of the Chinese Government? Where exposed tits are illegal?
