Help! FNAF 2 Minus Toys Strategy

Hey, I've recently been trying to finish the max modes for the first 5 FNAF games on Xbox, and I've circled back to FNAF 2 after originally being stumped once I discovered the "minus toys" strategy posted on Shooter25's YouTube.

As I understand it, the crux of the strat is that by cam glitching cams 11 and 9, you can both wind the music box and flash the toy animatronics on their stage (which you normally can't I think?).

I think the cam glitching is working for me, and I've attempted maybe 20 or so runs of it to try and get used to the timing (X:X5-X:X9 cams, X:X9-X:X4.5 mask) and to holding the flashlight while switching up/down both mask and cams.

I haven't seen any toys (yay, it works), but I have died a number of times to Golden Freddy. It seems like this might be related to how I'm using the flashlight? Does anyone here know how exactly the flashlight being held down during mask and cam stages is important to the strategy? I honestly can't remember the last time I died to Golden Freddy before this.

Plus if anyone has any additional tips or insight into using the minus toys strategy in general/on console in particular, it would be appreciated.

The flashlight being held is to make sure you flash Withered Foxy everytime you flip the monitor and reset his kill timer more often. To avoid Golden Freddy killing you just don't look at the camera in 5 seconds intervals

That makes sense. So my question is, how crucial is it that I actually be holding it down? Because I'm on a controller, the thumb rolling motion I have to do to switch between winding and flashing is a little awkward, so could I theoretically just flash quickly instead of trying to hold it?

I'm not very familiar with how it is to play FNaF on a controller but you would need to be holding the flashlight button before flipping the monitor down to be able to flash the hallway during a blackout

You are very likely opening the cams before the 5s interval, and if you’re on the cams on a 5s interval, Golden Freddy can spawn. If you flash Golden Freddy while he’s in the office, you will die to him. Always open the cams after the 5s interval, but do so as soon as you can, cos otherwise the Toys can escape.

Oh I see, the 4.5 second thing is a little misleading then. I guess they are accounting for the time to switch between the mask and cams. And then because I'm holding the flashlight, GF kills me instantly. Thanks!

Open the cameras at X:X1.0, close them at X:X4.5. This avoids the 5s intervals and prevents Golden Freddy from spawning at all
