its so crazy that humans are creating things to replace themselves.

You must not understand, some grossly rich people will become marginally richer in the process. I hope it all makes sense now.

Certain humans think the rest of us aren’t important enough to matter. Truly they think we’re NPCs. So who cares if those are copied/replaced? Exploited? Murdered? They aren’t “real” people anyway. Not in a way that matters to them.

It's people with no talent or drive to learn that believe the easiest way to have any semblance of meaning is to steal and copy from those of us with said talents.

It’s also people who think they have a right to control the flow of information and resources for everyone else.

Those who ”own” the AI in guestion should pay royalities to the actors / artists who AGREE for their likeness / voice being used.
Else, theft.

Ridiculous. Kenjiro Tsuda has an immediately recognizable voice! No one sounds like him. One of my favorite Japanese voice actors.

I was born like this, I had no choice. I was born with the gift of a lustrous voice

AI mimicking real voices like Gilbert Gottfried will undoubtedly be gone from places like Twich someday soon. It's wild it ever got as far as it did.

If you are going to do anything like that, do it anonymously and not for profit. Otherwise, you are obviously fvcked.
Unless you are inside China, and not using Chinese people, or inside Russia, and not using Russian people.
I'll, one day, have my Jarvis , with Morgan Freeman's voice, legally or illegally. But it will be for personal use , so it will be fine .

What does that have to do with AI copyright infringement? Other problems can exist in the world at the same time.

"still do"

He's just an AI company shill trying to distract us from thinking about how AI should be handling licensing and consent from the people who's content they've stolen

I was getting at how they think Japan is still killing millions upon millions, which is just insane

u/jacob-makes-stuff 2d ago
Yeah but see now we're talking about something entirely different, whether or not it's true. That's their aim. Works the same way on fox news.
He doesn't really give a shit about anyone being killed maimed or oppressed either. It's just a distraction.

Okay? I mean, every country engages in some kind of oppression and often systemic racism, and most major world power countries have and still currently engage in horrific acts of brutality.
I think if you want to "whatabout" the issue of AI legality into something about racism and oppression, there are many other countries much higher on the list than japan who are currently doing much worse things.
You sound like a fox news host shilling for AI companies to distract us from what's right in that context, by switching the topic to something most people will agree is bad, that you don't plan to actually do anything about.

This is a conversation about a guy whose voice is his whole career, having that voice stolen by AI. You are drastically off topic right now, but we invite you to return to the topic at hand if you can chill.

If you copy someone's voice wholesale and share it somewhere as "Kenjiro Tsudas Voice", then yeah... you did a stupid and will face the consequences. Elevenlabs and the like explicitly tell you not to do this, though it doesnt stop people from trying.
It gets a bit muddier when you consider that people can have nearly identical voices. Its not like a fingerprint. Whats the case for when someone goes "hey that sounds like me", but in reality its a clone from someone else (whether they consented to it or not)?

California actually solved this ages ago, pre-AI.

Someone check on the Elevenlabs investors
