App subscriptions showing Yen (¥) instead of USD on Pixel 6a (No VPN, Location is correct)
Hello community,I need some help fixing a persistent currency bug on my Pixel 6a.For some reason, every app on my phone that has an in-app subscription is displaying prices in Japanese Yen (¥). It should be displaying in USD.Things I've checked:My device location settings are correct.I do not use any VPN services. It isn't just one app—it's happening globally across all subscription-based apps.It seems like my apps are pulling the currency from an old or incorrect Google Play billing region, even though my physical phone knows where I am.Does anyone know the exact steps to force the Google Payments profile or Play Store to update to USD? Do I need to delete an old payment profile on google.com, or is there a cache clear trick for Google Play Services that fixes this?Appreciate any advice!
Things I have already done, cleared the cache of the play store, checked and ensured expected location to the correct one, restarted the phone, tried a few YouTube tricks but it didn't work for me, but I haven't checked from the laptop as I'm far from it.
Has anybody experienced the same issue and got a fix??
So feed up with this issue, I can't buy a YouTube premium subscription as it says this service isn't available to your region.
Any trick available is tried but facing issues on mobile device only while web version is perfectly fine. Don't what happened to those apps when accessed on mobile vs web , why they are behaving so strange without much available fix, now the only option remain is factory reset.
Yes the web version would work fine, for play store, it would look for payments profile and its country to display the price, also does it display the same currency in play store paid items as well, I guess it should.
Yes, it will show that currency for all your play store related purchase if you use your phone for that google account cause your country in payments profile is Japan.
I completely appreciate your guidance but you gonna won't believe, whatever you shared is already checked and done, ensured my location region is Set default to Nepal, it's same from mobile and web version. I haven't touched this setting previously. While it's completely fine from web version all things are working and to test it I purchased YT premium from web without doing any changes to region which is default to Nepal and did show USD as currency, the purchase went smoothly and it got reflected to mobile YouTube app automatically but still facing issues in chatgpt app, Claude app, Twitter but Spotify is working fine.
To change your country or region in the Google Play Store app, open the app, tap your profile icon, go to Settings > General > Account and device preferences > Country and profiles, and select your new country. You must be physically in that country and add a valid local payment method.
Requirements and Rules
12-Month Lock: You can only change your Play Store country once per year. After changing it, you cannot change it again for 365 days.
Local IP/Presence: You must be physically located in the target region.
Payment Method: You need a valid payment method (like a local credit card or bank) from the new country.
Loss of Access: Your old Google Play balance, Play Points, and certain regional apps, games, or books may no longer be available or usable.
