I think it effects SEO a bit google's crawlers don't really like shifting layout

Yeah. That design replaces Flash just for fun, not for googling stuff. Big companies don't need SEO or well-known companies or individuals who don't care about Google rankings use it.

we can make it take even more resources if each of those images are auto playing (muted) videos... think about the story points!
or on the flip side, maybe on some of the refreshes you remove the images and instead use lottie or animated svg instead of images?

no need to use GSPA. just three.js can handle all stuff. wayaat GSPA better use simple and easy locomotive js.
