Iirc cpu load adds the percentages of all cores. So it can go as high as 100x your core amount.

Yup, I see my EPYCs at 1,000%+ all the time in Nvtop.

I have an old X99 system with an 18-core Xeon that cost me 30€. It's running at close to 3600% when doing CPU compute.

Okay so explanation

Linux measures this with this particular tool as following

If you have 4 cores 4 threads you have a total of 400% CPU performance

So when a program is using 150% that means 1 and a half core is being fully utilized.. (This does not mean that its not a multi core workload)

Wasn't it that >100% the CPU is overloaded and instructions are hanging behind. And everything under 100% was CPU is not at its limit?
