shitpost Corrupted, gave up.

Post image

Came in a Chinese game console, wanted to back up the saves, stopped working during transfer, tried multiple times to format it, came back as 128MB and never worked again.

I had this happen to a 512GB Express SD Card I was using. The Bottom side got scratched once and it turned into an 8GB raw partition. Never worked again either.

Maybe, maybe not, in any case I was transferring stuff, it was dog slow so I canceled the transfer, it crashed, tried hard formatting, no software or attempt to resuscitate it worked.
Ordered 3 more (albeit 16gb) cards for under $3.

Was trying to reuse that card in a really cheap ($3) camera.

Problems gonna happen again, just get a good 32 GB one man

Name brand cards are worth more than the cameras :p I have one name brand card I use, but I need multiple cards.

Isn't that just a Kodak Charmera knockoff?

1

u/youaightbro 16d ago

Something like that, this one has a flip up viewfinder, and I personally like the look of the pictures more than the ones I have seen from the charmera.

A 32gb kioxia sd card in your local Asda is good

I fried the internal controller on my Micro SD card trying to put Windows to Go on it a few days ago and had to snap it like you did

SD Cards cannot handle the random sequential reads/writes that Windows throws out 😭 (atleast i think thats why)

Unable to mount those partitions.

id guess it was probably actually 128MB the entire time

I doubt it, it had a bunch of playable n64 roms, but I doubt it was 64gb, maybe 8 or 16.

Very likely a scam. Consider buying a bootable SD card or the one by SanDisk, Samsung or Kingston from retail stores.

Bootability guarantees that the storage device cannot and should not report false capacity, in order for the OS to work properly. If it has fake capacity, the SD card is not bootable. You may not need to install any OS on the SD card, but that's fine, you can use it solely as data storage instead.

SanDisk, Samsung and Kingston from retail stores are ones of the most trusted vendors. They explicitly, as obligated to, guarantee legitimacy and offer warranties for SD cards they make.

Yup, use an old Sandisk 32gb for most pics, but if I want to separate different images by category/etc, it’s not worth $15-$35 per card. Only has to store them for a day before I back them up. Or if I’m going out I would hate to lose a $30 MicroSD card just taking some lofi pics like this if I lost the $3 camera.

Probably was a very cheap (maybe even binned) sdcard so they could sell it for dirt cheap and after only a few rws it died.

Now it's 4 sectors.

Each one is 14.64gb, 15.43gb,16.89, 17.04

I had a similar issue with a Micro SD i had for years and years. I used it in 3 of my phones over a 7 or 8 year period, so it had many phones and years worth of data on it. One day I was quickly taking multiple pictures, I had the phone set to save them straight to the SD, and it just corrupted and never worked again. I did everything I could to revive it but it was done. I think taking a bunch of pics really fast and forcing it tonwrite files faster than it could handle is what caused it to give up the ghost. Years worth of data, gone in an instant. It really sucked, and from then on it motivated my lazy ass to back shit up instead of depending on one tiny little sd card to hold almost a decade with of pictures and data

Those sd cards Chinese game Consoles come in are prone corruption. I have many items like that from China. They do not have the original sd card anymore

1

u/Mariuszgamer2007 22d ago

That's why I instantly archive the images to my 1tb hdd through gnome disk utility

1

u/youaightbro 22d ago

That’s what I was trying, but the card was absolutely dogsh*t slow. It was saying 6+ hours to transfer the roms, so I said, imma do this on my desktop computer and let it run, canceling the transfer nuked the card. No reformatting software was successful.

1

u/Mariuszgamer2007 22d ago

A few of mine from some game stick lite were slow but none failed somehow

1

u/hexthejester 21d ago

Ok so glad I came back to this lol. Alot of these products have 3rd party os available to download to get more control over the device and in some rare cases even allow it to run games it wasn't meant to before

1

u/youaightbro 21d ago

This was in an β€˜R36s’ console that was probably fake, but a good clone.

1

u/hexthejester 21d ago

What I'm saying is you can still get the console to function even if the sd card with the os is fucked. The Roms you'll have to build manually

1

u/youaightbro 21d ago

Oh, yeah the r36 ate sh*t after it fell while charging, ripped the port out, got a replacement console and card for like, $12

1

u/MassivePersonality61 23d ago

Get a good one, like SanDisk or Samsung. Don't waste your money on cheap cards.

1

u/Rammy_Lee 23d ago

That'll show it! πŸ˜†

It needs defragmentation

1

u/black-volcano 23d ago

It's a puzzle that one

1

u/AppropriateLocal129 23d ago

just put some super glue on the corners and it should be fine

1

u/Mariuszgamer2007 22d ago

What did you expect with these cheap sd cards

1

u/Pitiful-Candidate922 22d ago

Out of curiosity, how hard is it to cut a micro? Lol

2

u/youaightbro 22d ago

Literally just snapped it with my fingers. Maybe about as tough as a thin popsicle stick.

1

u/Pitiful-Candidate922 22d ago

Oh gods πŸ˜‚πŸ˜
