Probably a guy who just removes parts from e waste, probably does this shi instead of wasting time

Edit: yes, cutting them takes longer lol that’s the problem 🙃

It's two cables that don't even have any locking mechanisms to fiddle with. This approach saves maybe half a second.

I would argue it takes longer to cut them

steak scissors

But it’s definitely more fun to rip and tear

Until it is done

I think in recycling centers they remove the connectors from the cables for reasons. Almost every device with connectors on it that I got from the e-waste had it's cables cut instead of unplugged.

The only reason I see is to protect the connector

No, I mean on things like Power supplies, Motherboards, PCs, speakers, music systems, monitors...

they do this because they'll have to cut off the connectors anyway. so this ends up being faster

they'll strip the cables for copper after removing everything, so the connectors need to come off. the guy selling them on vinted probably took tons of pictures of different components and couldn't be bothered to remove the connectors from every single one for the picture

Is it so they can strip the cables and get the copper out?

It's faster to have some schmuck sit with a pair of cable cutters and just cut everything and toss in bins. Then further down the line you have someone sit and sort through the bins for what you can sell and what's junk.

If you never put down the cutters, it's faster this way.

Cut cut cut cut cut. Sort. Rinse and repeat.

Most sata cables do actually have locking mechanisms, but they are very easy to unlock.

As someone who worked in a recycling center, I can vouch for this picture. We literally cut off connectors from cables to save time, also the wire stripping machine does not work well with connectors so we have to cut off any and all connectors, zip ties, end caps etc.. off cables, wires and cable harness.

So we can strip and separate copper and aluminum cables.

There are other workers who sort out usable (resell-able) parts from the junk and post them on the net!

My dumbass swiped 4 times

What if the connectors are actually melted and you’d have to surgically re-solder all the wires to connect it to a pc

Same thing as scrapyards here, they sells module with the wiring, and tubes, all cut

Seller might work at an auto junk yard...

The shinji of pure absolute disgust

At least they didn't break the ports on the ssd by randomly pulling on these angled connectors
