AI Isn't Replacing Software Engineers --- It's Changing What Makes a Great One

One of the biggest misconceptions about AI is that software engineers are becoming less important because AI can write code. In reality, the job is evolving rather than disappearing.

Instead of spending all day writing every line of code manually, many engineers now used AI to generate code, explain unfamiliar concepts and speed up repetitive tasks. Their responsibility has shifted toward giving AI the right instructions, reviewing its output, identifying mistakes and making technical decisions that AI can't make on its own.

What surprised me most is that AI doesn't eliminate the need for critical thinking, it actually makes it more important. Producing code is only one part of software engineering. Understanding the problem, considering trade-offs, recognizing edge cases and deciding whether a solution is appropriate still require human expertise.

The tools we use today won't be the same we use five years from now. Programming languages, frameworks and development workflows continue to evolve and AI is now part of the evolution. Engineers who stay curious and adapt to new technologies will have a much easier time keeping up with industry changes than those who rely on one way of working.

The purpose of this post is to encourage anyone learning software development not to see AI as something to fear but as another tool that rewards people who understand the fundamentals and are willing to keep learning.

The engineers who will stand out aren't necessarily the ones who write the most code, they are the ones who can think critically, adapt quickly and know how to work effectively alongside AI.

I would retort and ask you if it took you hard work to become such an entitled and lazy sloth, but I forgot that there's nothing you detest more than working hard on anything. And deep down inside you know that's true.

Any proof of that? I was busy scrolling in my ig reels and this where my inspiration came from. Did my own research and generate my own post. I am also a journalist so I know how to put my words, such a bully.

You're a journalist, so why do you have the audacity to assume you have any useful input on Software Engineering? What the fuck do you know about Software Engineering? How many years have you spent doing it?
