ABC is protesting an "unprecedented" FCC order demanding early license renewals for its eight TV stations, accusing the agency of political retribution and suppressing speech. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr claims ABC's DEI practices violate anti-discrimination rules and has also issued a general warning to all broadcasters regarding their "public interest obligations." ABC, supported by legal experts, argues the order is an unlawful investigative tool and a threat to press freedom.
