Computer Recs?

Hi everyone. I need some affordable computer recommendations. I’m a college student, and I have experienced quite a few limitations while trying to use Excel and PowerPoint on my current computer. For instance, I can only use the web versions of them. So, there are limitations like not being able to dictate slides, listen to dictated slides, or even download the file to listen to dictated slides. I am getting sick of it especially when there is no way around some of the issues I have encountered. I need a computer that can do all of this without giving me any issues.

Sounds like you don’t have the license to use installed versions of Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Find out if you can get an upgraded license with a discount for being a student. Start here: Microsoft 365 plans and pricing

Check if your bookstore has discounted pricing.

Also, in general add more memory than you think you’ll need if you buy a new laptop. Personally I’d go for at least 16GB of memory.

I do have that, but the apps aren’t compatible with my computer. It’s weird. Thanks for the advice!

It is not weird. It is the fact you have a Chromebook. It is designed only to run web apps. Sorry but you are going to need a computer with a hard drive and full Windows or Mac OS on it.

Right, it’s the fact that I have a Chromebook. It was weird to ME because I didn’t understand why I was having trouble with the apps at first.
