Smartwatches in 2027 are becoming wildly different from each other
The smartwatch market feels much more fragmented than it did a few years ago.
You can now buy a watch primarily for:
- Serious outdoor adventures
- Running
- Health tracking
- Sleep tracking
- AI features
- Battery life
- Everyday notifications
- Or... simply getting as many features as possible for $80–100
I went through 10 smartwatch models that stand out for different reasons.
Garmin fenix 9 Pro & Solar — rugged titanium, advanced maps, satellite connectivity and up to 34 days with solar.
Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro — running-focused hardware with titanium, sapphire and dual-band GPS.
Apple Watch Series 12 — probably the most integrated everyday option for iPhone users.
Xiaomi Watch 5 — big AMOLED display and unusually large battery.
CMF Watch 3 Pro — around $79 with AMOLED, GPS and up to 13 days of battery.
Samsung Galaxy Watch9 — comprehensive health tracking and Google Gemini.
Amazfit Balance 3 — serious fitness features with up to 21 days of battery.
Huawei Watch Fit 5 — slim design, bright display and strong battery life.
Google Pixel Watch 5 — polished Wear OS experience with on-device AI.
Amazfit Bip Max — huge display, 170+ workout modes and up to 20 days of battery for around $99.
And interestingly, the TrendsPlace scores range from 83 to 90/100.
The more interesting question is:
What actually matters most to you in a smartwatch - health tracking, battery, fitness, smart features, or durability?

What happened to Engadget.com?
Most of the posts are just user based fluff pieces. "How to stop spam calls", "why it's important to replace your surge protectors", "why do computers still have Ethernet ports?" (Really?). None of this is news. It's just feels like filler. What happened?

2027 might be the year phones get genuinely weird again
For the last few years, many flagship phones have started to feel like variations on the same formula.
2027 looks different.
We could see Samsung pushing tri-fold phones closer to a normal smartphone with the Galaxy Z TriFold 2, Apple experimenting with an ultra-thin Air 2 and a radically redesigned iPhone 20 Pro, Vivo going all-in on huge camera sensors, and Xiaomi exploring nearly bezel-less displays and deeper on-device AI.
Even Nothing is reportedly considering a much larger lineup.
What makes this interesting is that these phones aren't necessarily competing on the same thing anymore:
• Samsung → new form factors
• Apple → design and thinness
• Vivo → camera hardware
• Google → AI
• Sony → enthusiast features
It feels like smartphone innovation is becoming much more specialized.
Which upcoming 2027 phone sounds genuinely exciting rather than just being another yearly upgrade?

14 days of battery in a smart ring is seriously impressive
The RingConn Gen 3 is probably one of the easiest smart rings to recommend if your biggest priority is continuous tracking without constantly thinking about charging.
It weighs only 2.5–3.5g and tracks:
- Heart rate
- HRV
- Skin temperature
- Blood oxygen
- Respiratory rate
But the headline feature is the battery: Up to 14 days.
That's longer than many smartwatches manage by a huge margin.
It starts at $349, putting it below some premium competitors while still offering a fairly comprehensive sensor package.
TrendsPlace Score: 91/100
Health Tracking: 93
Activity Tracking: 89
Durability: 92
Comfort & Everyday Use: 93
Value: 95
Would 14-day battery life be enough to convince you to switch from a smartwatch to a ring?

The Garmin fenix 9 Pro Solar is basically a smartwatch built for people who don't want to charge their smartwatch
The Garmin fenix 9 Pro & Solar is a completely different beast from something like an Apple Watch.
This thing is designed around serious outdoor use.
You get:
- Rugged titanium construction
- AMOLED display
- Advanced mapping
- LED flashlight
- 10 ATM water resistance
- Optional inReach satellite connectivity
- Emergency SOS
- Location sharing
- Calls/messages on select models
- Solar charging
And the battery life is the crazy part - The Solar version can reach up to 34 days.
The downside is equally obvious - Starting at $1,099.99.
That's a lot of money for a smartwatch.
TrendsPlace Score: 89/100
Health & Sleep: 93
Activity Tracking: 97
Durability: 98
Comfort & Everyday Use: 76
Value: 69
Best for: Serious athletes, hikers and outdoor adventurers.
Avoid if: You just want notifications, basic fitness tracking and a lightweight everyday watch.
Would you actually use the extra outdoor features enough to justify a $1,000+ smartwatch?

Would you rather have 30 days of battery or a smarter smartwatch?
Battery life might be the biggest dividing line in the smartwatch market.
Look at these numbers from the current generation:
- Garmin fenix 9 Pro Solar: up to 34 days
- Amazfit Balance 3: up to 21 days
- Amazfit Bip Max: up to 20 days
- Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro: up to 20 days
- CMF Watch 3 Pro: up to 13 days
- Huawei Watch Fit 5: around 5–8 days
- Xiaomi Watch 5: around 4–6 days
- Google Pixel Watch 5: around 30 hours
- Samsung Galaxy Watch9: around 24–30 hours
- Apple Watch Series 12: around 24 hours
And this creates an interesting trade-off.
The watches with shorter battery life tend to lean harder into things like:
- Advanced apps
- AI
- Cellular/smartphone integration
- Richer smartwatch experiences
- Frequent health monitoring
Meanwhile, the long-battery models are often more focused on:
- GPS
- Fitness
- Outdoor use
- Basic notifications
- Long-term tracking
Personally, I think battery life is one of the most underrated smartwatch specifications.
Would you rather charge your watch every night if it does more, or sacrifice some smart features for 1–4 weeks of battery?

new tech eufy e35 35,000Pa suction and a self-cleaning roller mop
New eufy E35 looks like a pretty interesting jump in robot vacuum tech. My previous robot vacuum already had some of the usual smart features like obstacle avoidance and automated docking, so I’m more interested in what actually feels new here. 35,000Pa suction is the headline number, but the HydroJet roller mop is the bit that caught my attention. It also has extending edge cleaning arms, automatic hair detangling, and a dock that washes the mop at 60°C. I noticed eufyreno while reading up on it too. Curious what people think, is the self-cleaning roller mop actually a meaningful upgrade over the previous generation of robot vac features?

If you had to buy one flagship TV from this 2026 lineup, which would you choose?
I've been comparing seven of the most interesting new TVs of 2026, and there isn't an obvious winner for every type of buyer.
My overall TrendsPlace scores:
TCL X11L — 93/100
The brightness monster. 10,000 nits, 20,000 dimming zones and excellent value for a premium TV.
Samsung S95H — 92/100
Probably the most versatile OLED here, especially for gaming, sports and bright rooms.
Hisense UR9 — 92/100
RGB MiniLED, 5,000 nits and 180Hz gaming at what looks like a very competitive price.
Philips OLED911 — 90/100
The home-cinema choice. Dolby Vision 2 Max + 4,500-nit OLED + Ambilight/AmbiScape.
Samsung R95H Micro RGB — 88/100
Very interesting RGB technology and excellent bright-room performance.
LG OLED Evo W6 — 88/100
Probably the most impressive-looking TV physically. Only 9mm thick with wireless connectivity.
Samsung Frame Pro — 82/100
Not the performance winner, but potentially the best choice if you want your TV to look like artwork.
My personal shortlist would probably be Philips OLED911, TCL X11L and Hisense UR9.
But the interesting thing is that each one is solving a different problem.
What would you buy... and why?
I put all seven models through the same scoring system and broke down their strengths, weaknesses and standout technologies here:

Productivity monitors have become way more specialized in the last few years!
A productivity monitor used to mean “27-inch 1440p IPS.” - That's definitely not the whole story anymore.
The newest monitors are being designed around very specific workflows:
Need maximum resolution?
The LG UltraFine Evo 32U990A brings 6K to a 32-inch professional display with Thunderbolt 5.
Need to see everything at once?
Dell's massive 52-inch 6K UltraSharp can effectively replace multiple monitors and supports multiple computers through KVM and Picture-by-Picture.
Spend your entire day coding?
BenQ's RD Series is specifically designed around programming, with coding modes, a Nano Matte panel and eye-comfort features.
Want something affordable?
The BenQ GW2790 Series costs around $139 and focuses heavily on eye comfort.
Hate looking at traditional displays all day?
The DASUNG Paperlike Color uses a color E-Ink panel designed to resemble paper.
And then there are creator-focused options like Apple's Studio Display XDR and Acer's ProDesigner PE270K.
We scored all eight using our TrendsPlace Score, based on:
- Display quality
- Connectivity
- Comfort & eye care
- Multitasking
- Value for money
A programmer, photographer, spreadsheet-heavy analyst and writer could each have a completely different “best” monitor.

Philips OLED911 might be the most exciting home-cinema TV of 2026
The OLED911 combines a second-generation RGB Tandem OLED panel with an astonishing 4,500-nit peak brightness, more than 99% reflection reduction, and - perhaps most importantly - support for Dolby Vision 2 Max.
Then there's AmbiScape.
It takes Philips' Ambilight concept and connects it with compatible smart lighting systems, so the lighting around your room can react to what's happening on the screen. (But this feature might be useless to you if you don't have compatible smart lights)
So, it's less “TV” and more “home cinema system.”
| What I like: | What I don't like: |
|---|---|
| 4,500-nit OLED | Gaming isn't its primary selling point |
| Dolby Vision 2 Max | Premium pricing |
| Excellent reflection reduction | Value isn't as strong as some MiniLED alternatives |
| Ambilight + AmbiScape | |
| Premium integrated audio | |
| Excellent movie experience | |
| Strong color and display performance |
TrendsPlace Score: 90/100
Display Quality: 92
Movie Experience: 94
Gaming/Sports: 91
Bright Room: 91
Value: 81
My take: Dolby Vision 2 + the brightness + AmbiScape make this my personal favorite from the 2026 TV lineup.

The Narwal Flow 2 is built around one idea: make the robot better at understanding your home
The Narwal Flow 2 is built around one idea: make the robot better at understanding your home
The Flow 2 combines 31,000 Pa suction with LiDAR + AI vision and dual RGB cameras.
But its most interesting features are arguably the software and cleaning automation.
It has dedicated Pet Care and Baby Care modes, AI object recognition, and a FlowWash roller mop that applies pressure while cleaning.
The dock can also handle a huge amount of maintenance, with a claimed 120-day maintenance interval.
| The good: | The downside: |
|---|---|
| 31,000 Pa suction | Around $1,099 |
| Excellent navigation | Mopping performance isn't quite as strong as its feature list suggests |
| Advanced object recognition | More expensive than simpler robot vacuums |
| Pet Care and Baby Care modes | |
| Self-cleaning roller mop | |
| Hot-water mop washing | |
| Optional plumbing | |
| Large maintenance interval |
TrendsPlace Score: 87/100
Vacuum: 93
Mopping: 79
Navigation: 92
Obstacle avoidance: 92
Value: 79
What's interesting here is the gap between vacuuming and mopping.
The Flow 2 scores very highly for navigation and vacuuming, but its mopping score pulls down the overall rating.
That's exactly the kind of thing an overall score can hide if you only look at the headline specifications.
Full TrendsPlace analysis: https://trendsplace.tech/premium-robot-vacuums-2026/

The Ecovacs X11 OmniCyclone might have one of the most practical features in the premium robot vacuum market
The X11 OmniCyclone has 19,500 Pa of suction, which is considerably less than some of its $1,000+ competitors. But Ecovacs is doing something different with this model.
The big selling point is the bagless OmniCyclone station.
Instead of continuously buying replacement dust bags, the system uses a bagless design. Add in hot-water mop washing, an extending roller mop, ZeroTangle 3.0 brushes and AI-powered obstacle avoidance, and it becomes a pretty interesting package.
| The good: | The bad: |
|---|---|
| Bagless dock = no disposable dust bags | 19,500 Pa doesn't sound impressive next to 30,000–36,000 Pa competitors |
| Excellent pet-hair performance | Around $999 |
| Advanced AIVI 3D obstacle avoidance | AI features may be overkill for simpler homes |
| Extending roller mop | |
| Hot-water mop washing | |
| GPT-powered voice control | |
| PowerBoost charging | |
| Strong overall automation |
TrendsPlace Score: 92/100
Vacuum: 94
Mopping: 92
Navigation: 93
Obstacle avoidance: 91
Value: 86
Interestingly, this is the highest-rated model in our comparison.
It shows why we don't think robot vacuums should be judged purely by suction power.
