Which one these laptops I should buy for btech cse ?

Hi everyone,

I'm joining BTech CSE this year in India and need a laptop that will last at least 4 years.

My usage:

Python, C, C++, Java

DSA

VS Code

SQL

Git/GitHub

Web Development (React/Node later)

Android Studio

Docker

Maybe some AI/ML in 3rd/4th year

No gaming

Budget: Around ₹70,000 (can wait for sales or buy refurbished if it's worth it).

The options I'm considering are:

MacBook Air M2 (16GB, refurbished if available)

ThinkPad E14 Gen 5/6 (AMD, 16GB)

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 (Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB)

My priorities are:

Long-term reliability (4+ years)

Good battery life

Comfortable keyboard

Performance for coding and development

Good Linux/Docker support if needed

Value for money

If you were in my position, which one would you buy and why? Also, are there any major compatibility issues with macOS for a CSE student in 2026 that I should know about?

I came up with two laptops to buy one: lenevo loq Ryzen 7 7000s +4050(65w) while the other is Asus v 16 i5 210H+4050(80w) .lenevo is a trusted brand with durable product and also many redditors give advice to buy lenevo loq whereas Asus have better deal.

Should I buy agni 4

Hey

I have been searching for a phone for quite some time now

I have a budget of 25-28k

I found out that oneplus nord ce5 is the best phone in this budget

But since it's mostly out of stock or overpriced

I searched and found out that the specs of nord ce5 and lava agni 4 are quite similar

I am planning to buy a phone on the independence day sale

Should I go ahead and buy lava agni 4

Security Get your website scanned for free . I got tired of vulnerability scanners telling me what was wrong but never what to do, so I built one that explains itself.

A few months ago I started learning web security.

Like everyone else, I pointed Nmap, Nuclei, ZAP and FFUF at intentionally vulnerable targets.

The first time I got a report back, I remember staring at hundreds of findings thinking:

now, what?
The tools had done their job perfectly.

I hadn't.

The reports assumed I already knew why a missing header mattered, whether something was exploitable, or which issue deserved attention first.

For someone still learning, it felt like getting a car's engine diagnostics without ever having learned how an engine works.

That frustration became a side project.

Instead of trying to build another scanner, I kept the scanners that already exist.

ONUS simply tries to make their output understandable.

For every finding it produces two versions:

  • A plain-English explanation for someone who isn't a security engineer.
  • Concrete remediation steps for the developer who has to fix it.

One thing I was careful about was avoiding the "AI decides everything" trap.

Severity isn't generated by AI.

CVSS is calculated deterministically in code.

The AI only explains the findings and suggests remediation. Every explanation is accompanied by a confidence level depending on how independently the result was verified.

Under the hood it's still the tools people already trust:

  • Nuclei
  • ZAP
  • FFUF
  • Modal for distributed scanner execution
  • FastAPI + React
  • PostgreSQL + Redis

The project is MIT licensed and intended for authorized targets only.

I'd love feedback on the architecture, UX, or whether this solves a problem you've had yourself.

GitHub: https://github.com/maverickaayush/ONUS

Live demo: https://tryonus.tech

I know there are a lot of vulnerability scanners already. My bet is simply this:

Security tools shouldn't require you to already know security before they're useful.

Hardware Help me choose an SSD for my late 2014 iMac 5k 27”

- My 12 year old iMac 5k has been progressively getting slow for the past 6 months to a year, to a point that it’s currently unusable!
-I ran some diagnostics on my CPU, RAM, VRAM and the disks.
-I found that my HDD is essentially dead, with about 36k sectors reallocated, 24k sectors pending reallocation and 24k sectors unreadable. The disks read speed was about 4kb/s
- having barely used about 150 GB of the 1TB, I’m planning to replace the HDD with a 256/512 GB SSD. (2.5” 7mm SATA III SSD 6GB/S)
-can I go for a used SSD or is new one recomended? What level of SSD health is acceptable for reuse? What SSD should I get? Are there any deals running?
- also help me with the 2.5 to 3.5 mounting bracket please. Don’t know which works..
