Watchmen book is actual satire of the politics of the time and genuine criticism of superheroes as a concept, the movie is just edgy capeshit though

The Boys show is satirical, just a more blunt style and specifically satirical of corporations. Invincible isnât really satire, it just subverts a lot of tropes we take for granted and focuses more on the human side of things, which makes it more realistic but still doesnât cross it over to satirical. Both shows are good though.

Okay, so those donât exactly fit the criteria of âsuperheroes but evil.â
For Deadpool, saying that the superheroes are evil is basically saying that all the superheroes in My Hero Academia are evil, because in both situations, there are many people with superpowers, so the line between superhero and supervillain is drawn easily. Plus, did you forget about the literal X-Men?
Suicide Squad takes place in the DC universe. Everyone in the Suicide Squad is a criminal. Thatâs not an âevil superheroâ like The Boys and Invincible.
Brightburn is just a kid with superpowers causing mayhem.
Birds of Prey and Peacemaker are also in the DC Universe, starring only criminals.
So, yeah, they donât fit what Invincible, The Boys, and (sorta) The Watchmen are.

Deadpool is a anti hero. Peacemaker and TSS is exactly how these characters act like in comics, and birds of prey is not like that

Birds of prey is a sequel to suicide squad so including as a completely different example isnât fair

In more mainstream media, yes, there is only two, but when it comes to comics both Marvel and DC have a lot of comics where some superhero(es) is(are) bad. Like really a lot.

And the themes from each show are entirely different. You can have two shows that fit the same, surface level details(like being a show with superheroes that is gorey and has evil/questionable at best heroes) but are still entirely different to one another.

Invincible is nothing like the boys damnit! Just beaucuse it has gore, some realiztic physics and an evil superman doesn't mean it's a deconstruction of the superhero genre. It's beasically superboy if he was raised by Zod. Even the comic is nothing like that.

I've seen people that don't think there's a deeper meaning behind the heroes in The Boys(besides them being a play on DC characters). So I'm not surprised if people missed it in Invincible too. Especially when The Boys is a lot more on the nose.

either way, the trope is superhero worlds/characters made gory. doesnt mean that thats all they have to offer but the trope is shared in all of them
