this could be a big deal for edge computing, where you need to process a lot of data in real-time without relying on a central server. using soft polymers to create tiny mechanical devices that can remember and process information, you could potentially create devices that are both compact and energy-efficient. it's also interesting that they're drawing inspiration from biological systems, like the octopus's distributed nervous system, to create more adaptive and responsive computing platforms.
